In the Summer of 2007,
The University of West Alabama and the
University of Alabama collaborated to offer
students from both institutions a glimpse
into Black Belt life. The Livingston-based
program, Black Belt Action, gave these
students an opportunity to not only learn
about the rich history and culture of this
region, but also serve the area by working
in a local elementary school. The Center for
the Study of the Black Belt coordinated many
activities to help these students gain a
greater appreciation and understanding of
the Black Belt. |
