Black Belt Summer Institute
The Black Belt Summer Institute offers participants a peek into Black Belt living through lectures, musical productions, daytrips, and meals. During the first Black Belt Summer Institute, daytime excursions to Gainesville, Demopolis, Thomaston, and Sumterville focused on the architectural and natural history of the region. At night, the group experienced some of the literature of the region, with a lecture by southern author and public radio commentator, Nan Graham.
