Black Belt Symposia
The Black Belt Symposium on History and Culture is hosted by the UWA Department of History and Social Sciences in odd-numbered years. The Symposium promotes the unique life ways of Black Belt residents and celebrates the history of the region.
Rotating with the Black Belt Symposium on History and Culture, the Symposium on Literature of the Black Belt is hosted by the UWA Department of Languages and Literature in even-numbered years. The primary purposes of the Symposium are to emphasize literary contributions of the region, to spark literary conversations and analysis, and to introduce the public to the hidden vitality of the region.
